Kent Peterson

Biography

Kent Peterson is a painter and printmaker who lives and works in Newburgh, New York. According to Holland Tunnel Gallery, his abstracted paintings and prints draw on geology and anthropology, and his work is held in private and public collections in the New York area. He has been part of the gallery's circle since its Williamsburg years: he was one of 110 artists in Framed (2014), the Stairmasters project that marked the gallery's 17th year in Brooklyn.

He showed in the Grand Opening of Holland Tunnel Newburgh in May 2018 and in that year's holiday art sale. In 2019 he took part in the 9th Annual Newburgh Open Studios. In fall 2020 he showed with Marieken Cochius and Romina Gonzales in Terra / Derma, and in summer 2023 he appeared with Gerda van Leeuwen and Peter Yamaoka in Down To Earth, which the gallery described as a show by a trio of masters of color, texture and abstraction.

His painting Untitled (1986) was featured in the announcement. Peterson is also the film programmer for the gallery's Cinema Club, choosing the classic films screened at 46 Chambers Street.
