Biography

Frans Bloem is a cabaret singer and chansonnier who grew up in Amsterdam. As a young man he moved to Paris, where he started out singing on the street in Montmartre, and he later made New York his home. He sings in French, English, German, Dutch and other languages, and much of his work centers on the songs of Charles Aznavour. In 2002 he brought his show "Aznavour in Bloem" back to Danny's Skylight Room in the Theater District, with musical direction by Sterling Price-McKinney and songs in English, French and Russian.

At the Metropolitan Room, which inducted him into its Hall of Fame, he presented "Beyond Borders" with pianist and music director Steve Sandberg; the show included his alter ego, Maxime. Reviewers called it "a true New York story." He has also performed in the Netherlands and in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and sings often at benefit concerts. At Holland Tunnel Newburgh he joined Heleen Schuttevaêr and the house band as a guest vocalist at Final Blast, the closing party, on November 19, 2023.
