Holland Tunnel Gallery is pleased to present “Blast,” a group show featuring artists who have shown in the gallery over the last decade. The show includes paintings, sculpture, photographs, prints, and works in mixed-media. For ten years the Holland Tunnel has had regularly scheduled exhibitions and installations showcasing local, national, and international artists. To celebrate this, the gallery's tenth year, “Blast” pulls out aII the stops with an exuberant, joyous, over-the-top exhibition that reflects the vitality of the always rapidly changing neighborhood.
As part of the show's title indicates, this will be the Iast regularly scheduled show
at Holland Tunnel. Local Blues singer Lex Grey and the Urban Pioneers will bring
the house down at the opening reception, Saturday, January 6th, 3:00 – 5:00 pm. The gallery will remain open for occasional special events and exhibitions. Holland Tunnel Paros, Greece will continue to run summer shows in July and August and will feature a group show titled Enigma in the summer of 2007.
Holland Tunnel wants to thank its many loyal friends and supporters, all the artists who have participated in shows, and who have curated shows, and all the people who have visited the gallery. Special thanks to Dominique Nahas, noted New York art critic who in 2001 transported the gallery to Miami Beach, Florida, and who described Holland Tunnel as ''the tiny gallery that could, the gallery that can” in his introduction to the 5 Years catalogue. Also, special thanks to Fran Kornfeld, whose consistent help kept the gallery running smoothly, and to Roy Lethen, for his graphic design for invitations, catalogues, and the web.
